Hi, I'm Jonathan.
I'm Jonathan Hochmeir, founder of Webagentur Hochmeir e.U. — or webhoch for short. By day I build websites and software for businesses; in the evenings, that turns into the »verstehen« series.
I kept noticing how often technology feels like a black box — AI, data protection, security, the internet, deepfakes. This series is my attempt to change that: to explain complicated things calmly and clearly, for everyone who simply wants to follow along.
Why the »verstehen« series
Good explanations shouldn't disappear behind paywalls, ads or cookie banners. That's why every page in the series is free, ad-free and data-minimising — and freely usable under CC BY 4.0. No trackers, no hidden agendas, just content you can pass on without a second thought.
It's written for every generation: for seniors who are curious, for beginners with no prior knowledge — and for schools that want to bring the topic into the classroom. To do that, every page has four learning modes: from the very simple, through the in-detail view, to a student view and a teacher preparation with answers and worksheets.
So the same page reads right for beginners and advanced learners alike — nobody is left over- or under-challenged. And teachers get ready-made material for their lessons, with no sign-up and no download hurdle.
